Star Wars

It was ten thirty at night when a friend and i decided to watch star wars , you see i had been quite eager to indulge myself in some 1970`s productions , the idea of another marathon fascinated me , Harry Potter had been absolutly phenomenon and once again the strong beautiful and intellegent Hermione Jean Grange had become the girl i secretly wished i could be , but then again this desire constantly changes with each movie i watch, i was absolutly mesmerised by how fierce Tauriel was in the Hobbit and now it would be the Princess from Star Wars .

I had wondered why i had never been interested in these line of movies before , the witty jokes that got me everytime leaving me in a arkward position inorder to control the jerks my body had because of the laughter , my eyes shed a few tears and not in sadness but more so in absolute joy when the little “metal collectors ” ( forgive me Star Wars Lovers for not knowing their name ) spoke to each other in what my friend and i are sure is Zulu.

As i watched the screen intently i wondered if making movies now required such commitment , The aliens werent computer graphics but rather men and women in suits that probably sweat like labourous workers , im sure even with all the perspiring the idea of being in a movie filled with PEW PEW PEW and  the heaving sound of Darth Vader made it all worth while .

The lightsabers ( i honestly thought they were called light savers but then again those could be the flourescent lights in my kitchen ) made this iconic sound everytime they were moved , it was brilliant . They were sharp enough , or Hot enough to cut the arm of an ice monster  ( which reminded me of a teddy bear i once loved ) right off with one swoop. I must admit i was quite impressed .

well now i have only watched episode Four but i do know this : The Force is strong

When Self Efficacy just isnt enough .

I have been studying social studies for the past few months as a subject that contributes to my second year of Chiropractic and one aspect of personality was the concept of self efficacy. Self efficacy is the “Can Do ” part of us and is separate to Self Esteem.

As i read up on the concept , i identified with having a strong sense of efficacy , white water rafting even though i was afraid of large water bodies and had dislocated my shoulder twice . Studying the science subjects for university entrance on my own even though i had no clue what physics , biology and chemistry was about before , but no sooner than i had completed my list did i realize that 100% of the time ,it had so much more to do with faith in Jesus . I was afraid the entire time , i had fears of failing and thoughts of being unable to complete anything successfully but whenever i thought of Jesus and his love for me , the fact that he had a plan and a future for me ,there was a  peace and  i could face another challenge and view it as a task that could be completed.

University has become that place were i “Can Do” but not because i have this confidence solely in myself but because i know that he has brought me this far , he would never let me go . Holding on to the promise that he is faithful to complete what he has begun in me .

I have experienced some amazing marks ( 95% Epidemiology test, 86% Physiology  test , and faith for an amazing mark in General Pathology test 3 😉 ) amazing experience with people ( Plays , Study Camps , Ultimate Frisbee , Winterton trips etc) with everyday being a  day to be grateful for the Blessing of my ability to “DO”.

God-Faith-and-Love-godThere are still a lot of things that need to be sorted out, Financially (2014 fees ,Med kits for next year ,etc )Emotionally( Self esteem ) ,Physically (fitness), Academically ( 2014 Exams ) but I “CAN DO ” all things through Christ who strengthens me , so yes i have  strong Self efficacy through Christ . I might be able to say i have a strong JESUS EFFICACY 😉

Relationships make life beautiful ™

I had lunch with a friend recently and he said to me “Aimee ,I’ve come to realize that I have two kinds of relationships in my life , The long term and the seasonal ones” . It registered to me right there and then that although we all have a degree of love for each other , effort in  the long term relationships takes more than a hug and a look (which could be perfect for the seasonal relationships )but for the long term seem to take an element of effort and responsibility .

It wasn’t necessarily about the food although it’s a very good medium ,it was about the Quality time  and to much of my enjoyment we got to find out about each others lives  …Where are you with Christ ? What have you been doing with your life ? Do you need any help ? Were a few of the questions that lead to a pouring out of our lives in order to build our relationship . We don’t see each other often but after our meeting ,we both walked away fulfilled .

It will take a lot more Quality time ,A lot more Effort but its definitely worth it  .I understand a glimpse of why God wants relationship with us ,its such a beautiful part of life  it is definitely worth all he did to tear the Vail .

Run this race to hear you say ………………

God the reason to live

I am finally starting my own business, as small as it may be, My friend and i have started making diaries , its exciting to finally own our own little business even though we havent actually sold any yet .

Life is started to look alot more like a place where nothing is impossible , Champions For Life ( A psycho -social program for Chidren affected or infected by HIV )has managed to once again bring about healing in my Life even though it has nothing to do with me , I am only a servant  who once again finds myself involved in something so much bigger than myself .

HEARTAs i reflect on the little things i was led to do i realise that every stroke of the brush contributes to the bigger picture ,  Sweeping the church inorder to get accreditation for the school or cleaning out the basement so that we could have a place for the youth to come and chill in the presence of God or volunteering at Maximized Living Clinic Zimbabwe………………………….

It was  never about me , I probably may never be able to fully enjoy the places physically but its all been worth it .Now my heart yearns to serve more and take on more responsibilty  , its time. There is a Grace  and at the end of the day its all to make my Father in Heaven proud.

Dear Christ

I was chatting to a friend of mine and confessed to how little I actually know about you ,Christ and what you  did here on earth and after. I went into Colossians and was amazed as to how much I had missed over the past years as a Christian.

You strengthened me with all power according to the might of your glory for all endurance and perseverance with joy. In you I find redemption and forgiveness of my sins past, present and future. My Lord is the image of the invisible God ,the first born of all creation in whom all things are held together . You has reconciled in the body of your flesh through death to present me Holy and without blemish and blameless before God ,You are the revealed mystery to me so undeserving for the riches of your glory. I walk in you being rooted and built up established in faith, abounding in thanksgiving.

In Christ ,the fullness of the Godhead dwell bodily and I am made full, I was dead because of sin but you made me alive forgiving all my trespasses .

c s

The more i learn about you the less my life stays focused on me .I pray the revelation of you resonates deep within me that it is not merely knowledge alone but true understanding from within.

5 Essentials to a healthy heart .

This is my very first newsletter , it was written for the clinic back at home in Zimbabwe for the heart month (february). Let me know what you think .heart

Your heart started beating three weeks after you were conceived. It pumps blood to all your organs, muscles and systems with each beat. It’s truly a wonderful system, but it is easily damaged through lifestyle factors such as smoking, consuming processed foods, as well as physical inactivity.

positivityEssential 1: Maximized Mind

Positive and negative thinking impacts your overall well-being. Research has shown that optimism is associated with a lot of health benefits such as reducing stress, producing feel-good hormones and increasing your coping abilities towards unhealthy behaviors.

Essential 2:  Maximized Nerve Supply

chiroRegular chiropractic adjustments can help prevent heart attacks, lower blood pressure, reduce heart rate, relieve chest pain, and support the cardiovascular system. According to the Palmer Chiropractic College Chiropractic, adjustments helps to lower blood pressure, diminishes anxiety levels and balances hormones—all good for your heart and body.

Essential 3: Maximized Quality Nutrition

Not all fat is bad. It’s important to consume unsaturated fats, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats that are found in vegetables, nuts and seeds. Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids are excellent for a healthy heart and are found in fish, nuts and seeds.

Sugars, not fats, are the fastest way to spike bad cholesterol that clogs up your arteries. Too much sugar increases insulin levels in your body and increases fat storage. Avoid sugars, processed meats and bad oils such as canola, vegetable and sunflower. These oils are known to turn rancid, become bad fat, and clog up your arteries.

time Essential 4: Maximized Oxygen and Lean Muscle

A sedentary lifestyle is known to be one of the five major causes of heart disease. Exercise is known to reduce cholesterol build up in the arteries as well as increase good cholesterol. Exercises such as surge training, which is done in short duration, reduces weight and blood pressure while improving insulin sensitivity and exercise tolerance.

Essential 5: Minimize Toxins

Toxicity has been linked to a lot of major diseases – especially heart disease. To help detox your body, it’s important to drink 3-4 litres of water a day, have daily bowel movements, exercise (this allows you to sweat which is great for releasing toxins), eat plenty colorful fruits and vegetables, and remember to meditate on positive thoughts.

The writers pen

In the evening african breeze i sit here indulging in the enjoyable recollections of my past events. The story God has chosen to write and i ,the pen he holds in his right hand .His words , His story but my ink on the pages called life.

I am so humbled by his choice of pen , Neither the most expensive nor the one that glides effortlessly on the page .The writer never replace me even when the ink gets jammed in the refill of my heart .writing

1st Cor 1:27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

When i do comply his story is a masterpiece. The Holy Spirit an illustration aiding in the interpretation of the text , Christ is the reason my use is made possible ,He is the barrel that allows God to hold me in such a way that the story can be written .His righteousness made me qualify as the medium to be used.

2 Cor 3:4-5 Such confidence we have through Christ toward God.Not that of ourselves we are qualified to take credit for anything as coming from us; rather, our qualification comes from God.

When the story is read each letter knits together to make a word that describes his Greatness , Each sentence his Majesty and each book his Glory .

Thank you Christ for making my life worth living and my story worth reading.
